Although tree nuts and peanuts are two different foods and are not actually related, experts advise children who have tree nut allergies to avoid peanuts (and vice versa) because about 30 percent react to both allergens. Tree nuts can also be especially dangerous because they are found in the ingredients of so many products, including lotions and shampoos, bird seed, and other pet foods.*This list is intended to provide a small sampling of foods that could contain tree nuts or traces of tree nuts. There are many others that may not be mentioned here. Always remember to check labels and/or inquire about how foods have been prepared.
