Cricket is allergic to peanuts

Cricket is allergic to peanuts

Halloween is one of Cricket’s favorite holidays. She loves getting dressed up and going trick-or-treating with friends. Getting lots of candy may be important to some, but chocolate and other treats containing peanuts make Cricket very sick. In any situation, Cricket’s mom and dad always help her read the labels and decide which foods are safe for her to eat. If you or someone you know is allergic to peanuts like Cricket, always check before eating any of the following foods* that often contain peanuts or peanut oil:

  • Asian foods
  • Baking mixes
  • Granola
  • Ice cream
  • Nut butters
  • Egg rolls
  • Marzipan
  • Chocolate
  • Pesto
  • Breads, muffins and other baked goods
  • Cereals
  • Crackers
  • Flavored popcorn
  • Soups (mostly dried)
  • Vegetarian burgers
  • Candy with nougat
  • Seasoning
  • Sauces (peanut butter often used as a thickening agent)

In addition to these foods, peanuts can be found in the most unlikely places. Some restaurants even cook items like donuts, french fries and chicken in peanut oil. That’s why it’s always important to ask a grown-up before eating anything new.

*This list is intended to provide a small sampling of foods that could contain peanuts or traces of peanuts. There are many others that may not be mentioned here. Always remember to check labels and/or inquire about how foods have been prepared.
